I used to run. Like you I ran outside not in a gym. I travelled a lot on business, and running kit was easy to carry. I’ve met some brilliant people, and even ran a 10k in San Francisco. I could do 5km in just over 15 mins when I was younger. But aged knees and torn calf muscles means I can’t do it any more. But I cycle. And I have a similar relationship with cycling as you have with running. I feel so much better for doing it.
Thanks for the comment, Mike! I need to get out of this slump for sure. I'm glad you're cycling if you can't run. I think once you've experienced the intoxication of a fitness "escape", you always need one.
Thanks for this Jo, as I sit at my desk debating getting out for a run. I think you have galvanised me - and, unlike you, I actually do hate running. x
Hurray for feeling galvanised! But also – no way re. hating it?! I remember you going out for a run in Lima – and getting lost! Ever since then I have always associated you with running as I thought you must be well keen seeing as we'd only just arrived. Very impressed that you're going out regardless in that case. I can't seem to snap out of this slump and I love it... x
I DID get lost!!! I was younger and more energetic then. But I have never managed to reach the stage of not hating it. Just hate being a slob more (sometimes). Enjoy your slump! All good things come to an end... x

Oh man, I miss running. Having a baby 3 years ago REALLY fucked up my pelvis and I still haven’t been able to run without causing myself pain yet.
Nooooo! That's so sad. I'm so sorry. But this is exactly what I mean – the threat of injury taking it away is terrifying!
